MY WORK

Newest to oldest.

ANXIOUS

I made this in a figure drawing session. I didn't realize until later on how much expression she emphasized. I was focused on shadow and tones.

I paired this artwork with another piece to show duality in how a pose can express inner self.

COMPOSED

I didn't care for this piece until a second look. I am a sucker for huge contrasts in value. I also liked how much detail I placed in her versus the table she rested her arm on.

When looking at my other piece Anxious, I knew this work had to be with it. Unlike in anxious, she seemed more at peace with herself. Thus, the name "composed."

COME BACK TO THE LIGHT

Based on screenshot from the GazettE's "BLINDING HOPE" MV, featuring their vocalist Ruki.

I really felt attracted to this scene. the lighting, the composition. I sketched and painted in Krita using the programs watercolor brushes in various sizes and opacities.

MASKING

I was inspired by self-reflection and discovery about myself.

Masking is a term used when those who are neurodivergent are forced to act neurotypical. Its done as a response to being in a world not made for us. Often masking is rewarded when not making is punished. On the other hand, masking is known to cause a person to get burn out, migraines, loss of voice, and oversleeping.

I wanted to show what masking was for me. this includes her head restraint as the mask is forced on her. The girl is based on a younger self, crying because of how much discomfort and pain masking is for her. Because of her teachings, she doesn't fight.

Done in 2022, with watercolor, guache, and colored pencils on tones tan paper.
